Who knew it couldn't get any better than this? As you all know from my previous blog that I did not pass the Science, Health, and Physical Ed. Test. With that said, I received an email from Pearson customer support group. It stated, "This is to inform you that, as part of the Indiana Superintendent of Public Instruction's effort to support Indiana candidates pursuing certification in certain educator shortage areas, you are eligible for a partial test fee voucher to retake the Elementary Ed. Generalist Sub. 3: Science, Health, and Physical Ed. Test of the Indiana CORE Assessments for Educator Licensure.
Wow! Thanks, Pearson. Nothing like a voucher to pay $22.50 instead of $45.00 to retake this test. All sarcastic put to the side, it is nice that they send you a coupon if you fail, but I don't want that... I want to pass this test! What if we received an email from Pearson that stated, "You can get it next time! Here is a possible list of questions that you may have missed, or here is a free practice test that you can take...? Now, that would be helpful!
I finally took one of my Licenses tests last week. Sadly, I did not pass it. BUT you know what? It's okay! I am not going to put myself down because I know I can succeed... It may take some time, but it will happen. The main thing is to try not to get discouraged. I need to make sure I take the tests early enough, so I'm not stressing about time.
Unfortantualy, it is too the point now when I see my Professors, and they ask how I did on the tests. I feel sad, embarrassed, and I want to keep walking past them. I feel like it's on repeat to tell them I did not pass, but I will get it next time. I want to show them all that I can do it! They do support me, but deep down inside I feel like some of them are thinking I'm not cut out for this, you know the being a "TEACHER" thing. I want everyone to know that TEST-TAKING DOES NOT DEFINE WHO YOU ARE AS AN INDIVIDUAL!!! My future students will be taught not to get discouraged after taking a test that they tried their best on. I have/had struggles during life, but it is making me a stronger teacher that will support each student that crosses my path.
Struggling in life is a common thing. It just depends on how you handle it. Put a smile on your face every day, tell yourself you can do it, and DON'T COMPARE YOURSELF TO OTHERS!
